    Ask the assistant

    • How do I finalise personal income tax?
    • What does a small company have to file each quarter?
    • Do I need a chief accountant?

    Before you hire

    • Who can provide it

      No licence since July 2026

Since 1 July 2026 Vietnam has not licensed accounting service firms or required the accountant practising certificate, while the Law on Accounting is being amended. Certificates issued before then still show a qualification.

    • What it costs

      Monthly packages

Most firms charge a monthly fee that grows with the number of invoices and staff, plus a fee for year-end work. Foreign-owned companies also pay for an annual audit. See typical costs below.

    • How we verify

      Confirmed and checked

We confirm each firm's identity and that its business is registered, and we check the licences and memberships it lists.

What an accountant does for a company in Vietnam

Every company keeps its books under Vietnamese accounting standards from the month it is registered, and files tax returns even for a period with no transactions. Most small companies outsource this:

    • Monthly bookkeeping and e-invoices.
    • Payroll, social insurance and personal income tax withholding.
    • VAT returns: monthly, or quarterly for companies with 50 billion VND or less in revenue the year before.
    • Corporate income tax, paid provisionally each quarter and settled in an annual finalisation due by the end of the third month after the year ends.
    • Preparing the financial statements for the annual audit that foreign-owned companies need.
    • Personal income tax finalisation for individuals.

Most companies must also appoint a chief accountant. Micro enterprises may appoint an accounting lead instead, and many companies hire an accounting firm to fill the role.

    How to choose an accountant

Ask what the monthly fee includes and what is billed separately, such as year-end finalisation or the audit, who prepares the filings, and how they report to you in your language. If you are unsure who fits, tell us what you need and our team will introduce you to up to three verified professionals within 48 hours.

    Questions people ask

A company must keep books and file tax returns from the month it is registered, even with no revenue. Most small companies use an accounting firm instead of hiring in-house.

Monthly fees scale with invoices and staff. The table on this page shows typical published prices, and each profile shows the firm's own starting price.

Not since 1 July 2026. Accounting services are no longer a licensed business while the Law on Accounting is being amended.

Yes. Companies with foreign investment must have their annual financial statements audited by an independent audit firm.

Many firms file personal income tax returns and the annual finalisation for individuals. Some employees can instead authorise their employer to finalise for them.

We confirm identity and business registration, and check the licences and memberships each firm lists.
