Who can practise
Licensed and in a bar association
To practise, a Vietnamese lawyer must hold a practising certificate and join a bar association in a province or centrally run city. Foreign lawyers licensed in Vietnam may advise on foreign and international law, and on Vietnamese law only if they hold a Vietnamese law degree.

When you need a lawyer in Vietnam

The law requires a written legal services contract that sets out the scope of work and how fees are calculated, so ask to see both before work starts, and ask who will do the work. Court proceedings in Vietnam are conducted in Vietnamese, and documents in other languages must be filed with a certified Vietnamese translation, so the working language matters. Lawyer, law firm or consultant?
